General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM)

Overview

GNM programme is meant to prepare general nurses who can efficiently perform as members of the health team and capable of dealing the competencies in both the hospitals and other such organizations.

  • Course Duration : 3 Years
  • Admission Intake: 60 Students both boys & girls
  • Mode of Admission- Direct
  • Hostel Facilities available for both boys & girls

Career Opportunities

  1. Staff Nurse: Work in hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes, providing direct patient care.
  2. Community Health Nurse: Serve in community health centers, focusing on preventive care and health education.
  3. Midwife: Provide prenatal, postnatal, and newborn care, assisting during childbirth.
  4. ICU Nurse: Specialize in intensive care units, managing critically ill patients.
  5. Operation Theatre Nurse: Assist surgeons during operations, ensuring sterile conditions and patient safety.
  6. Home Healthcare Nurse: Provide medical care to patients at their homes, especially the elderly or those with chronic illnesses.
  7. Nursing Educator: Teach and train aspiring nurses in educational institutions.
  8. Nursing Administrator: Manage nursing staff, schedules, and patient care standards in healthcare facilities.
  9. Military Nurse: Serve in the armed forces, providing medical support during missions and in military hospitals.
  10. Research Nurse: Participate in clinical research studies, contributing to advancements in healthcare practices.

GNM graduates can also pursue further education such as B.Sc Nursing or specialize in areas like psychiatric nursing, pediatric nursing, or critical care nursing.
